Ok then this is a different set up than mine. Damn they used to sell the whole exhaust for that price. mine was shipped (from ssautochrome) with a huge downpipe, testpipe, y pipe and two huge "not muffler straight through pipe" mufflers.

Even 1 cat will soak up a good deal of noise.

Because regardless of how large the pipe to the muffler is, when you stick in the butt-plugs it's restricted to the opening in the end...which is normally under 2".

With the catalytic converters in place, it shouldn't be too loud at all.

If you don't have cats, I'd weld in a Borla XR-1 muffler in line somewhere.

I bought a SSAC turbo back exhaust a few years ago.

It was great looking for the money... I think I ended up paying about $500 shipped after I waited for just the right auction to get a deal.

Fitment was okay. I never could get the mufflers to hang even until I cut the bolt holes bigger on the Y pipe to allow a little bit more adjustment.

Loud? Oh yeah. It was REALLY loud. I had the turbo back exhaust so all it had was a pre silencer. I always thought the butt plugs were pointless. The drone on a long drive would start to get painful.

If I had another FC would I buy it again? Maybe. On a late night or weekend car - sure. Anything that gets driven more often or you still want creature comforts - no.

My exhaust on my 88 na vert is pretty much just a straight pipe running to the y split and into two canisters. with out my butt plugs its louder, seems to have less power and gets less mileage. With my plugs I get better throttle response and better gas mileage. any idea why?

Because your killing your back pressure and arent allowing you aux ports to open with such an open exhaust.

I not only sound really gay, but only have one butt plug in my exhaust. It gives me a semi aggressive sound, but not super ticket loud.

^^^ me too, where i live in tenn we have no marta/emissions testing so i've always ran no cats and so will the rx7 in a couple of weeks. i'm just wondering how loud this exhaust is with just a presilencer as a sound deadner? now my last car was a old bug-eye wrx with a header, no cats, downpipe and a blitz nur-spec R. that thing was retarted loud but i DD it for almost 4 years so it wasn't a problem,

Im just gonna go ahead and say on almost any car, it will turn out cheaper and more to your liking by making a custom exhaust, you can get whatever size pipe you want and use whatever mufflers you want.
