Anybody know what model Nissan this comes out of? Found a bunch of nissans with the struts but didn't want to waste money buying a bunch to try.

It works fine. Its an oem part designed to support a heavy hood.

I didn't realize how nice this mod is till I recently opened the hood of another FC and it just laid there, doing nothing.
I'd forgotten how brutally heavy a steel hood was, how clumsy the hood prop is and how in the way when in place.

All in all, one of the easiest and most practical of all the weirdness I've inflicted on my car.
