Earthing Probs

I have some real wierd issues with a 1991 TII Cab ( jap spec )

when you try and start the car - all the relays click like mad and it wont run

ontop off all this the lights dont move up or down

someone has suggested a bad earth

SO ..........

does anyone know where all the earthing points are on these cars

i have looked EVERYWHERE and cant seem to find a list of them

any one on here have any idea ( and maybe some pics )

Thanks

Stu
( i know that the battery is one , there is one under the IC on the back right bolt - if looking from the front - there has to be more that 2 ??!! )

check the battery- sounds like it could be weak

if that doesnt work try putting more earth in the car. get a metal ( conductive ) shovel and dig up a small amount of fresh dirt. make sure the dirt is fresh. it should smell earthy. take a handful of the dirt and make a small pile on the negative side of the battery to increase it's electronegativity.

It really just sounds like the battery earth/gnd is not making good contact, either AT the negative post OR maybe where it terminates at the LONG starter bolt. That bolt might be loose. The other place the negative cable on the battery connects is just below the left strut tower (USA version anyway).

In the online and free for a download FSM, there is a page that shows all the gnds. I posted it in a jpg once upon a time.

THe attached jpgs I'm sure will be unreadable but it'll give you an idea.

Or if the starter doesn't engage, then all you'll hear is the starter solenoid kicking. Mine does this. If I hit it 2 or 3 times in a row, it'll usually turn over. If it did work fine and now nothing, I would bet this is it.

car cranks just fine to be honest

its just that all the realys are going made ( AC realy , one under the air box , sounds like the BAC aswell and prob a few others )

i have put a HUGE cable from the neg terminal to the place where the fuse box bolts to the strut wall - still doing the clicking - so need to add a few more

if it doesnt work - then i can rule it out

thanks for the help so far - if i get it working - i will try and get some pics up to help others

ta

stu / grinder

Note : i have the FSM but couldnt find anything to do with grounds ??
