E85... supporting mods... etc etc etc...

so a couple of people out here have been running e85 and tuning and making really good numbers on lower boost and more timing. i have seen people make 50 to 60 more whp and similar tq gains. my subaru is getting tuned on e85 in a month and it should hit 350hp and 400tq on e85.

i was wondering what the general RX7 crowd has done and seen with their 13bt's on e85.

is anyone running it? if so what benifits/draw backs if any have you seen?

im also wondering what supporting mods you all think would be necessary for running e85.

I drive just a couple of stock series four cars using half regular (yeah, I know it contains ethonal also) and half E85.

I've a RTEK2.0 and in general have to add about 22% across the board. One car is a Turbo and the other a homely 86n/a. I'm thinking about just removing the 460's from the n/a and installing 550's that are laying around and then going all E85.

The price of E85 WAS about fifty cents cheaper when the regular was at 4 bucks a gallon. Now the price b/t regular and E-85 is about the same. So there's no real advantage to using E85 other than the higher octane and doing it as a hobby.

But trust me, the GOV'T WILL hike the gas tax up to a dollar a gallon more. That's the only was ALTERNATIVE fuels make any sense. They are ALL more costly than oil. The windmills look cool though. Even cooler if installed off Martha's Vinyard, Mass imho.

NOT the answer your looking for. I just needed to type something.

Oh. I did emissons testing on the 86 using just 1/4 E-85. The figures wern't any better than using the straight gasoline last year. Got me as to why not.

By the way, there is a E-85 place on this forum. Like there's a RTEK forum a Haltech forum etc.

I got most of what little I know from a TURBOBRICK forum in ???????? Norway? Sweden? somewhere like that.

In most cases the supporting mods look just like nots of extra fuel flow and injectors and a retune

Personally I cant wait to try it, but its not that available where I am.

I use the stock omp. I recommend the Turbobrick forum and the E-85 post in it. Just for stock cars though.
