Place a pry bar or large screw driver where the dust cover( at the back of the engine)goes and hold the flywheel in place with it.

Then you'll have to put the flywheel back on. The only way of stopping the e-shaft from turning is by stopping the flywheel. Also, the front nut is very hard to get off, many have to use a blow torch to loosen up the threadlock first.

I got the front nut off quite easily with a hand ratchet and socket, but I think the motor is frozen.

You need one of these: http://acmehardware.com/product_deta...x?sku=4438107#

Wrap it around the main pulley and have a friend hold it in place while you take a breaker bar and socket to the nut. Soak that bitch in PB Blast too, it'll help alot.

Perhaps if you could find 2 flywheel nuts instead. Thread them both on the end, have someone hold the inner one with a wrench, then loosen the front bolt. The outer flywheel nut will keep the inner one from backing off the e-shaft.

I used a pipe wrench to hold my e-shaft. Didn't scar it bad enough to worry about.

I would take it somewhere to have it impacted if you don't have a really good impact. Firestone around here has done it for me 3 times for free. Saves a lot of stress and time. I had nothing stoping the shaft from spinning all times, the initial torque was enough to break it free everytime. If you have to, I geuss you could put it in a bed of a truck and find a way to stop the shaft from spinning by using an object while he impacts it. Good luck!

heat the bolt up til either it's a lite cherry red or until you see smoke, then just zap it off with an impact gun or with a moderately long breaker bar

I did this on Monday and it was a pain. I was using a big Snap-On impact and it wouldn't even budge. I had my friend hold the flywheel with a stopper bar and with a 6 foot cheater bar and two guys, it finally came off.
