E Brake won't release

Ok, so I just checked my calipers, and noticed a brake issue. We landed on the driver side, the caliper is not released when we lower the handle. We can manually free the caliper, but it's just not working on its own accord. We tried to lube the mechanism that the cable connects to, but with no luck. Passenger side works fine.

I just wanted to see what options there are to resolve this. I bought the car back in March and it had been sitting for 6 years. I also apologize if there are already threads resolving this issue. I did as many searches with not much luck.

This is easy...rebuild the calipers.
A kit costs about $2 per caliper and excluding whatever cleaning you do, takes about 10 minutes to install.
If you're really into it (and why wouldn't you be?) remove, clean and lube the cables.

Problem solved.

That sounds easy enough. I didn't know if I was looking at a caliper replacement.

It'll depend on the caliper.

I've only done a few and they were all mercifully free of serious corrosion, so spinning out the pistons was easy (Just FYI, the rear pistons do NOT push in/pop out...they are threaded. As simple tool is cheaply available in the usual stores and if you're lucky, some needlenoses might spin em out).

The rebuild kits as well as all hardware and pads is identical for all FC (and even FD) rear calipers, turbo (vented rotor) or base models.
