Dry Ice as dent remover?

I read somewhere that you can use dry ice to remove small dents/dings? Is this true? Apparently, from what I've read, the dry ice cools the metal and causes it to pop back into place. Anyone ever tried this? I have so many dings in my door because my mom and brother don't pay attention when they open the damn door next to my car in the garage!!!!

I would be worried about it cracking the paint. I think a blow dryer would do you better.

Yea I'm gonna give the compressed air method a try. I can't find my can of compressed air, so I'll probably just buy some tomorrow. Hail damage sucks! I've never really gotten any cuz I'm in CA, but a friend has a car from Texas that is literally covered in hail dents from the hood to the trunk.

well, i tried it today, and all it did was make the dents really cold. Doesn't mean you shouldn't try it, it might work for you. I need to try the dry ice method next.

Hmph. I can see that working on a big dent (obviously), but I wonder how well it'd work on a tiny ding?

Maybe I'll try it, see what happens.

That method DOES NOT work if there are any creases in the metal, even little ones. If it's just a bit of a wave then it will take out the dent.

My bad, you posted while I posted - my comment was directed towards the previous poster's who were trying that out. It *may sometimes when Jupiter is in recession behind mars* work.

Other then that it's just fun to see what people will do to avoid giving body shops (me) $$$$

this technique would probably not work with old dents
with new dents the metal still has memory of the original shape the dent he fixed probably could have been fixed by just pushing on the other side i dont believe it would work on small dents

that will not fix small dents.

i'm pretty sure there are very few large dents that will fix.

Eh, I'll try it anyway, what's the worse that could happen? Somebody already smacked my door with something, causing the paint to chip away form a quater sized hole...so I'll try it, and let you guys know.
