driving with leaky bov
driving with leaky bov
my car is sitting in the driveway without a bov because i'm waiting for one in the mail. a friend of mine called me because of an emergency and i have a leaky bov in the garage so i decide to clean and try to fix it. i put it on my car but still leaked. i know people drive around with vacuum leaks all the time so i thought it should be fine if i didn't boost at all.
besides the vacuum leak idle it drove fine but there was some popping so i knew it was running rich. anything over about 3k the car started to stumble and jerk around. and right before i pulled into his driveway it died and wouldn't start! i'm going to make home depot bov til i get mine in the mail, but should my car have died like that while i was driving?

Might not have been running rich all the time..........
If the BOV Leaks under vaccume, it will allow unmetered air into the intake past the AFM.... therefore, the ECU thinks its getting less air that it acutally is.... LEAN.. Under BOOST... of the BOV leaks... the ECU thinks its getting MORE air than it is cause some of it is going out the BOV... RICH.....
