which driveshaft?

I'm dumping a 1990 engine and 5speed tanny into a 1986 automatic car. My question is can I use an s4 5spd driveshaft with the s5 tranny? This will be bolting onto the stock s4 GXL diff..

Thanks

First *I don't KNOW*. Second, look at this url http://www.mazdatrix.com/g4.htm first glance you see the mfg part numbers are not the same for the series four and series five driveshaft......but look at the aftermarket part numbers. They are the same. So I say yes, a series four manual driveshaft will fit and work with the series five transmission.

There is no difference in s4 and s5 driveshafts, be it auto, turbo, or nonturbo-5sp. There are only those 3 sizes.

You need to use a stock 5sp DS. You will have to custom rig the transmission crossmember mount.

No, groundzero has the t2 now. I have the vert, which at some point in time will be turbo'd. I could have done that to begin with, but I decided the time and money would be better spent on paint/stereo/exhaust, and due to my hectic work schedule, I needed to a) get it on the road for the spring/summer and b) use a setup that wouldnt require much of my time to get running properly. Thus I went back with a stock engine for the time being.
