Driver Side Door handle broken...

Heya guys, my driver side door handle no longer works. I can open fine from the inside. I removed the door panel and removed the 1 screw i could get to on the exterior handle. But the other screw is out of my reach. I am kinda new at this so I was wondering if I am able to remove that metal frame that is in the way. ( Dont know if I am clear, I removed the door panel, then there is that plastic covering, i pulled that back, then there is this metal frame, where it has a hole just enough to see into the door and remove a few things. I was wondering If I removed the bolts if I could remove that frame as well. Didnt want to go unscrewing junk and end up wasting time.) Thanks with any feed back you can give!

I had the same thing happen to me, but it was so long ago I don't remember how hard it was to fix. I do remember that I was pissed about how much the part was to fix it because I had to buy it from the dealer.

There should be a small whole with a rubber plug by the edge. Reach through with an extended socket with the window rolled down so you can get to the bolt. I hope that that helps.

Yeah, there is a whole and notch in the window glass (or curve) that lets you get to that other door handle bolt. I've replaced the door handle three times now. My door handle is standard primer grey, just cause I don't have the patiencie to paint it and have it break again. This last one has actually held up though. Unfortuantely, the door pins loose and the door sags a bit, which really blows.

Anyways, use a socket and extension to get to that other bolt. Play with the door handle a little, it will come out from the outside (as compared to trying to get it trough the inside.
