Drive train feels really sloppy. can someone help?

I noticed that today my car is really sloppy compaired to my friends rx7. It feels like the u joints are bad. When you give it gas, and then let off you feel a big transfure from the acceleration to the deacceleration. also it makes a funny squeaky noise that sounds like it is coming from the tranny.

I've check the u-joints and they feel solid. could it be that the internarls of the tranmission are sloppy and not tight.

It sucks because when i am on the gas and let up alittle, their is just so much play in it. i would like if you guys gave my so of your thoughts in what might be wrong.

Could be caused by many different components. Not in any particular order.

1. Engine and tranny mounts
2 Clutch springs fatigued
3 Slop due to worn gears in tranny
4 U-joints
5 Worn ring and pinion gears
6 Worn half-shaft joints
7 Rear sub frame mounts.

How many miles on the chassis? While any particuar component may not be in failure mode, the accumulated wear of all the components combined can make it feel just plain worn out and sloppy.

considering my clutch is bad it might be that. or the gears are worn. The guy i got it from i guess was pretty hard on it. But hey i go it for 200 bucks and runs great now.
