Drifting w/out P/S..?
Drifting w/out P/S..?
how hard much harder would it be to drift if i removed the p/s?.... i mean, i know that after like 5 mph or so its easy to turn because the vehicle is in motion, so im wondering if it would even matter if i had the p/s in or not.
i dont have ps and i like it A LOT better than PS!!!! on my 240 i had it and then it went out, ever sence then i started looking for a manual rack for it!! never found one though cause it died and i was workin on a turbo build up with a motor swap but yeah, i dont like p/s u dont get as much feel for whats going on and the steering is too quick imo.
but thats jsut my 2 cents

PS turns off at 25mph anyways. so track drifting (where speed exceeds 25mph), you dont need it, you can just get a manual steering rack. but for low speed or autocross, (under 25mph), you might want to consider it unless you got muscles. but no, not impossible. I'd probably prefer no P.S. since it's better feel of the road and the car.
yeah, thats the responces im lookin for....lol..... ive had no p/s b4 and it didnt bother me... i mean ive got to p/s brackets, im gonna take like a zaw-zall or something to one of em and cut it in half so i can just keep the a/c. make it look a little better and there and more room to run IC piping
well when i drifted this week in my TII without power steering, i noticed letting go of the wheel and it'll counter steer for me. I just hold it in place when im doing it that all; of course i can't touch it until it slows down or ill have a broken wrist and hand. but yea; its alot easier to feel and control

If you still need to make a lot of steering corrections/input when drifting, then keep PS and you will learn much quicker. If you have gotten to a point where you can pitch your car into an angle and hold it with as little steering input as possible, then you might like the heavier feel of a non-ps or manual steering rack.
IMO, I can concentrate on driving more with PS because I am more relaxed. I've driven a manual rack FC, and I concentrated on controlling the steering wheel more than controlling the car because the steering wheel needed more effort to turn when I made mistakes.

but i bet if u drove that car for a week u wouldnt be doing as much consentration. it was new to u so it was different and ur mind always pics out the obvious differences and directes ur attention there, cause whe it went out in my 240 at first i hated it, but being the poor bastard i am, i never got it fixed so i got used to it and learned to love it :-D
I have a TII with no P/S and a Supra with P/S. After driving them both for months, I don't feel any difference between the two. I don't think it's a matter of muscle; I think your mind just unconciously adapts to the steering. I like manual steering a lot better for aggressive driving because you can feel the road and how your tires and suspension are responding to it. Fly-by-wire just takes the fun out of it, too.
