Drag racing tips please

what do u guys have the rpm's at when u launch??
i have read that ppl do it like at 6grand or so but how can u do that with out dropping the clutch?
also when u switch into 2nd gear do u rev it up in neutral again and kinda drop the clutch again or do u just swift normal with out dropping the clutch
i need help please

well in my experience drag racing my gtu. the best way to launch is drop the clutch @ around 7000 rpm. shift fast but normally into 2nd and 3rd gear. you can a little burnout if you want but it won't matter if you don't have drag radials or slicks. i usually do just cause it looks cool. oh yeah make sure your clutch is good before doing this or it will slip REAL bad afterwards

I never been to track, but my 86 N/A seems to launch best dropping it about 4500-5000, Much higher and I light em up...

And you want to drop it when the christmas tree gets to the 3rd yellow, right before green....

okay thanx i will have to go practice before saturday night
and oh ya its street races not actually drag but same thing pretty much
i live in a small town and we usually get about 30 or so cars there to race at midnight

even if i lose atlast i got some badass flames to go with the loss

If you want to launch good, you need Drag Radials. BFG's or Nitto's.
I usually try get a good burn-out done right before I launch. It heats up your tires and makes them stick better.
When I launch, I launch at around 5500 RPM. I have a TII and that gets me in to boost.

Go on a day when it is not going to rain. J/P Well I went to the track for the first time today and it started to rain right b4 I paid the fee. WTF. And to make it worse It was the last day today for the season. Good luck. Our cars are touchy to launch.
