Downpipes?
Ok, so I'm tryin to build myself an exhaust system, and the first step I suppose would be a downpipe. I was looking around and it seems the choice is either buying one somewhere or custom fabricating one at a muffler shop. Well, I'd prefer buying one premade and the only one I could really find that I liked was the racing beat dp. On the site it says it needs the presilencer in order to connect to the stock manifold. So would putting the presilencer on there cause any powerloss? Would it be better to go with another downpipe that fits the stock manifold, or should I get the racing beat one and put the presilencer on there? Or even more, should I get a different manifold? Any suggestions or personal experiences would be great.

Mazcare fabbed adapters for my vert. so I can take the cat out if I want
Presilencer may give a slight hit on flow, but it will keep the volume down @ 70mph.
Perf catalytic converter & catback will be fairly noisy (not too loud though). Does sound good though

Re: Downpipes?
Unless it’s very late model, most exhaust work here in NZ is custom. There are some great exhaust shops that specialise in performance exhausts, and I guess there must be someone like that in your area. You can save lots going custom, just find someone with a bit of experience.
You’re getting confused with some of the NA stuff on the RB website. Your downpipe doesn’t bolt to the manifold; it bolts to the back of the turbo.
My ideal system (others will disagree!) is a 3” downpipe, 3” cat if required, straight-through muffler (aka pre-silencer), a well-made split into two 2.5” pipes and two 2.5” straight-through mufflers with 3-4” tips. This is very similar to the RB system, but it would cost about US$400-500 instead of US$789 and would perform just as well. The RB system looks and fits great but you’re paying extra for their good name, not extra horsepower. Note you’ll need a FCD (and ported wastegate for Series 4 cars) with either of these systems.
I know quite a few cars with this type of system and it’s great. I had a similar (single muffler) setup on me 12A Turbo Cosmo and loved it, the extra power and quicker spool-up was amazing.
