Door windows problem, need help
Door windows problem, need help
I have been looking around and couldent realy find anything that realy relates to this, so... I have an 88 gxl and the drivers side window sticks a bit when im puting it up. it seems the top left coner (if viewing from the inside) is moving towards the back of the car. I have to help it by pushing forward on it, then it goes the rest of the way. the passenger window is just slow, could this be the rails? and if so how do I get the door pannel off and what do i do to fix it? thanks and any help is aprecialted.
I have personally never taken a door panel off of an rx7 yet, but door panels are easy to take off, and i dont see these being any different. Look for any screws holding the door panel on, there are usually some located on the door panel pull handle bottom side, and usually one or two in the scratch guard of the door handle. After removing those, the door panel usually has some snaps, locate those by lightly pulling on the door panel, and finding the restricting points, focus on prying those off to unsnap the panel.
Once the door panel is off, you will have to look to see what is wrong, it should be fairly obvious if you have good light and can see what is going on... roll it up and down, if something is broken and you have some common mechanical knowledge you will be able to figure it out...
good luck

Taking the door panel off is very easy. There are a series of screws along the underside of the armrest, one near the mirror, and one hidden under the inside door handle. Once it's off, you can unplug the window switch and the door light. You'll also probably have to pull some of the plastic covering back to get access inside the door. The window moves up and down on a track, and you can make adjustments to how it sits. loosening the nuts holding it place, then shifting it to allow more parallel movement will probably solve your problem.
