Door Switch

My drivers's door switch just quit, and on taking it out, the wire was burnt off the end of the switch - rocker panels going and salt and crap got inside and corroded the thing - my problem is, how dow I get at the burnt-off wire to firstly, hook up the rebuilt switch, and secondly stop the thing from hitting metal and blowing fuses? Tried fishing through the switch hole, and no go - tried taking off kick plate - no hole - can I get at it from the cpu area? As rocker panels are mainly salt and crud, should I just rip out some of the rotten metal and fish for the wire from below? Any help appreciated, especially from my Canadian brethern who know from whereoff I talk with regard to salt and bad rockers etc.

Remove the sill trim and lift up the carpet, you'll see the wiring loom running to the bach on the car. The door switch wire comes out of this loom an goes through a hole to where the switch is. Just pull it out.
