Door Speaker Idea

Has anyone ever thought of sticking some 4x6's in the little storage pockets in the doors?? just cut out the hole and stick some dynamat in there and then clean it up so it looks decent. Anyone ever tried this--do you think it would work??

hmmm its good for a laugh! we did it to my friends TII with a couple 5inches and all we got was rattle!!! fitting it in was a bitch and we still have to work out the rattles but for as much time as it took NOT WORTH IT...doesnt sound all that good either. but if you try it use rubber bushings between the speaker and the plastic! it solves alot

How bout just picking up some door panels from salvage with them built in? They have both front speaker pod and center speaker pod door panels.

my .02:

4x6 speakers are the worst sounding speakers in the world... They are not balanced, the don't have any response under 125Hz worth talking about.

You would be better off using a 4 inch since it sounds like you must have a pre-88 car. Or placing a piece of sheet aluminum into the door and cutting out a hole for a 5 or 6 inch speaker.

I saw one second gen that had tweeters in the airvents in the door. Those that point at your face? He streched that mesh across the opening. It looked sweet and factory.
