87 turbo II cold air filter and straight pipe....heres the problem i was driving home one day when all of a sudden when i stop at the red light the exhaust backfires(loud pop) and the seven died out...as i try to start the car the car starts but i need to gas it a little if i let gas go then it will completely die out...to drive it home i would need to gas it whenever i hit a stop light or stop sign and it runs crappy.....white cloud of smoke comes out when i gas the car..cranks up fine til it get warmed up then slowly falls then one or two rough idle then dies...whats wrong wih the car??? is it time for a new motor?

 

Do a compression check. You may have toasted your motor.

 

check your vac hoses. One may have come off or broken.

 

check you vac lines

 

check the AFM connection as well.
