Doesn't it make you mad when....

you talk to someone with a sweet car and they know nothing about it.

That is exactly what happened last night. I was out with my friend and we decided to drop my 90 RX-7 NA off at target so I could ride with him since I just changed the alternator belt and I don't think my car is up to racing yet. Anyway I was riding w/ him up and down the streets where the races usually going on and we see the usual racers. There were some modded Integras, a lot of civics, a prelude w/ a turbo, and of course there were some crappy old school cars that look like *** and had a v8 (BOOOO) and so on.

We got a few races in his 93 Probe (I wish I were in my car) but I didn't see any RX-7's or Supras so I thought it was going to be a boring night.
Just then I saw a red FD fly by and I was shocked because there are only a few that I see around town and they are owned by older guys that aren't really into racing on the streets.

I tell my friend to follow him and finally after like 20 minutes he pulls over at a gas station. I couldnt wait to talk to this guy because I only have one other friend (ncsublime) that is really into rotaries and it is always cool to talk to rotorheads.

Anyway I told my friend I wonder if this guy even knows anything about this car because I noticed it had a 30-day tag and he looked like the type to not know anything.

Unfortunately I was right. I got to talking to the guy and I said wow nice FD, and he was like "huh, a what?"

So then I said that's a nice RX-7 and he's like ya thanks but he said it in like a ya i know you jackass way.

Im far from being an Rx-7 or rotary expert but I was just curious to see what this guy knew and sure enough he knew jack ****.

I said to him you know youre really going to like the rotary engine and hes like ya i guess. Then he said "ya its pretty good for a 1.2 L" and I was like WHAAAAAAT!!!!!!!! Ok so he said 1.2 instead of 1.3 thats not a huge deal but its like this guy didnt even know how many rotors his engine had etc.

Then the guy was talking about how he wanted a different look (I dont know why he would change it) and how he was going to get different wheels but he was going to get 16" again? Why? Why would he change the stock 5 spoke Fd wheels for a different wheel that is still a 16? Why wouldn't he just keep his stock ones if he weren't going to get a bigger size?

He also said his car wasnt fast enough. What the hell!!! It only had 50 K on it too I bet it ran like new and was just as fast as it should be. So I told him you know if you want to make this thing unbeatable you should street-port the engine and he didn't know what that was.

Maybe there is still hope for this guy and that is why I gave him a bunch of rx-7 websites to go to so hopefully he can actually learn some things about his car but for now I think it sucks he can have a 3rd gen and know nothing about it.

Maybe Im just jealous, actually I am really jealous and I really dont know what the point of all this is but it just sucks he can have that car and be a retard.

Oh well I still love my RX-7 and someday I will be able to afford a FD.

I guess the whole point of this is that it sucks that some people can get their hands on such a great car like the RX-7 and not now anything about it.

Money can buy a lot of things, but experience is not one of them.
