the rubber sport spoiler was part of the s4 aero package; it did reduce the CD.

I believe the larger spoiler that you're most likely thinking about mazda advertised as increased downforce, conveniently leaving out drag.

Ya, I'm sure it reduces drag.

I don't think it reduced drag, but probably increased downforce.

The sport spoiler was the one that reduced drag. But otherwise, the FC had a very low CD at the time.

i don't believe either the GTU or the sport reduced drag. from what i remember though the sport spoiler reduced the drag the least but also offered less downforce, the GTU had the most downforce but added the most drag. i personally have a GTU spoiler on my car because you can overcome drag with power but you can't overcome the downforce problem.

and the GTU spoiler is just damn sexy on a FC.

someone should do a track test for it.... go to the race track(circuit track), drive a few laps with it on, then take it off, and see if it feels any different.

How about we just admit that we can put some tasteful things on our cars just because we like the way it looks. This doesn't make you bad in anyway, look at the classic street rod scene.

It does, I remember reading an official Mazda Document indicating the drag coeficients of the various mazda RX-7 FC models and aero package in the wind tunnell. And the difference with or without the areo package was quite significant. I can't seem to find that piece of litterature but Icemark had a copy of it too if I remember correctly Maybe he can point us in the right dirrection.

That is correct...for the "Sport" package aero.

I thought this thread was about the "generic" rear spoiler for the FC's?

I was told by a local rotary guru that the GTU spoiler was specifically made to increase downforce on the *** end of the car. Mazda apparently tested the spoiler in a wind tunnel with great results.

I'd like to see proof of such claims?
I've seen documentation on the "Sport" aero package, but I've never seen anything on that generic rear spoiler.

BTW, who is that local rotary guru?

what does the "aero" package include?

The spoiler that I'm talking about is the stock wing found on my 10AE.
