does this sound like a pressure plate issue to you?

So I'm driving one day in stop and go traffic and I usually leave the car in gear and just have my foot on the clutch pedal. The clutch disengages and reengages about half way through pedal stroke. Well the pedal starts to get really sensitive to the point that If I barely let off of it the clutch engages. Eventually the pedal would no longer return. Well I used my foot to pull the pedal back up and it starte to work just fine again engaging and disengaging at about half pedal stroke. Well I figured it was just the slave cylinder bleeding off or something.

I replace the slave cylinder with which actually turns out to be the incorrect slave. This slave cylinder has mounts that are closer up about an inch. Well I start to drive it and the clutch now engages at the floor. This is unacceptable and I believed it was due to the mounting being different, so I decide to put the other slave back on it. Well even after swapping the other slave back onto it, it is still engaging at the floor. Do you think that it could possibly be a problem with the pressure plate? I have a brand new master cylinder on the car also. I'm not losing any fluid or anything so I don't think its cylinder bleed. And I took the internals out of the New, incorrectly mounted) slave cylinder and put them in my old cylinder so I new internals on my slave also.

Sounds like PP to me. Mine's (87GXL) doing the same thing, it was slipping in the higher gears, then got worse, then if you tapped any revs into it in neutral while stopped, the pedal would just stick to the floor, and you'd have to pull it up with your toe. At this point mines completely out, no clutch at all, setting in the driveway waiting on garage space.

I have a feeling that with a very weak PP, centrifugal force from engine rpm make them act stupid.

I'm going to try to take pics of it once it's out, tie them with the symptoms, and post it. We'll put it up here after the 1st of the year.

start off with the proper fitting and working hydraulics first.

if the hydraulics are all new and the pedal sticks to the floor, it means you are not getting any pressure feed-back from the clutch fingers.

the two things i can think of that could cause this are:

bent clutch fingers
clutch fork failing/bending

alright, i learned that if you just hold the clutch in to the floor at stop lights , traffic, stop signs, what ever... your through out bearing will go out.. .. if you dont know what the through out baring is. it is the bearing that the slave cylinder pushes and moves the through out bearing that opens the pressure plate to release the clutch plate.

.... ?Check that?... its either pressure plate or thorugh out bearing.

I'm liking the clutch fork idea. They're picky, believe it or not.

Anyone know if the NA tranny clutch fork works with the Turbo tranny?
