Does a single exhuast look stupid on a FC?

I am deciding between going with a RB dual Y-pipe catback or a Corksport single. Differences in performance and sound will be marginal at most, and therefore are not that significant to me. I am wondering about the looks - with the two cutouts on the rear bumper, will it look bad to have a single exhuast??

i feel that duel exhaust is always better looking than single.

there also are some people that think the more tail pipes the faster the car. just a thought

On a turbo, a single gives more HP per $.
If it's NA - true dual rules..

I don't think so.

This is the JIC SPEC90. It has a larger diameter tip and 90mm piping.

Check it out.

Look around too.

Thanks, Rishie

I just have to dyno mine.
It's dual 2 1/4" all the way back, and gets happy & loud at >4k. Kinda like a loud b-flat on a trombone. mmmMMMWAAAAAAH.

I think without a different or custom bumper, a single exhaust looks stupid, almost out of place. Im not arguing the fact that there is pretty much no reason for it, especially on a turbo...but just as far as looks go...duals all the way

I don't think that's right. The RB systems seen to be designed to be quiet, at the expense of some performance, so the pipes after the Y are too small to outflow a single. I think you'll find the CS single will make a bit more power than the RB dual and be heaps louder. Remember you're comparing two big cans in parallel to one small can. A custom dual set-up would be a different story, as you could select pipe sizes to overcome the RB's flow disadvantage.

As for looks, I don't think single exhausts look silly (as just about every other car has one), just not as good as a dual. I don't like the empty cutout in the bumper at all, but thats easily fixed with a scrap bumper and a bit of plastic welding.
IMO, dual just looks heaps better!

Yo,

Okay, this is purely on looks, right?

Dual.

The big single stainless canister is /so/ played out. Every riceboy Civic/Neon/whatever has a stupid canted fartcan hanging low off the back.

The Racing Beat dual is very good looking, my buddy has one on his GTUs. Canisters are nice and shiny, the tips are NOT grapefruit sized.

Damn...It's just really hard to justify the price of the RB for an extra muffler and tip...even though I do agree that I don't want to look like all the civic's and neon's out there...

But with a single, I should be able to outrun them all

I think it's time to go single...I have other things to do with the $300 (USD!!!!!!! :o) difference.

Why would you go buy a brand name thing for that much money when you could buy some nice mufflers for a good price and have a muffler shop make you a custom setup that is much better then the RB one? Thats what I'm doing. I have a friend that got his done at Midas and has nothing but Kudos for the job. I've seen it too. Sweet welds and very nice pipe. Its great.
I think this is what you should do. It'll be pretty cheap as well.

single. dont worry about the rice boy comments, there is really no purpose for dual exhaust on an FC, its a fake dual exhaust anyways, pretty much the same setup that kids put on their Dodge Neons to look cool. Trust me, i have the corksport, it is sick looking, the sound is unbeatable, and so is the price and performance. At first i didnt like the looks, but it grows on you, and it looks badass.

What looks better? Dual of course. But there are more reasons to buy exhaust than that. Weight, power, cost.

Ive got a RB dual system catback I need to unload. It was part of the full turbo exhaust (good stuff). 1/2 the price of a new system. PM me.

Just buy 2 cans and have a shop weld up a cat back. Don't forget the flanges so you can still mess around.

They don't sell the mufflers that they use in their catback separate. The ones they sell separate are smaller than I want. I contacted them about this and was dissappointed.

Hmmm 2.5 inlet and 3 tip for the generic. Not too bad if your running the stock turbo esp. in a dual. You could have a shop make you a 3" from the turbo down to a Y that splits from 3" to 2 2.5"s....just a thought. It's what i'll be doing....

Hey Erik,
How many times have you bounced that exhaust off the pavement? It looks nice but it looks REAL low to me.Have you thought about cuting a hole in your bumper to fit that in? It would look killer that way. IMHO. of course.
