For the 6 port motors, here is the deal. See the actuators on the side? Those work off of pressure, either form the exhaust(86-8) or the air pump(89-91). Either way, pressure goes through a vacuum hose, to both actuators, and PULLS THEM DOWN. IF you study them closely, you can find the vacuum hose. IT leads in underneath the rear actuator, then y's off underneath towards the front one. IF you dont believe me, get a long piece of hose and attatch it to this inlet. Blow real hard on it and youll see the actuators arms move down. This rotates the 6 port shafts. IF theyre in the UP position(closed), the rear will be at 9:00 and the front will be at 3:00. When they open, they both go down, to 6:00.

Sometimes actuators go bad, but most of the time if they dont work that means the sleeves inside are frozen up. Sometimes some oil down the intake runners(outer) will help free them, rarey youll have to pull off the lower intake and free them up yourself. The actuators are held on by 2 10mm nuts, remove them and pry off the actuator, if the shaft mves freely(on the actuator) then it is probably good. Then try turning the shaft on the block. Sometimes you can take pliers or a long flat screwdrive and rock them back and forth to get them working, and oil or atf down the outer intake runners helps too.
