I've already got a bid on one.... I was hoping someone would be able to give me some info about these kits. They aren't priced too bad, so why doesn't anyone have them?

This is the kit I'm interested in:
Kit
I have a question about them, if they are HID's what do you plug your three prong clip into? Is there some type of adapter for the H4 bulbs? I saw Sylvania has some kits for the 1st and 2nd gens that run $699 for EVERYTHING.

They aren't HIDs, they are blue tint Halogens. That blue tint actually puts out LESS light than stock. No normal light with a blue tint will light up as good as a standard light. You would need a blue absorbtion coating (that removes the blue element of the light) to get better lighting. A dichroic blue tint reduces it. True HIDs have a blue tint, but they are a completely different kind of light, and the light itself in the beam has no blue in it.
"Recent tests by the US Department of Transportation's Office of Crash Avoidance Standards found that a standard-wattage 9004-type blue headlamp bulb reduced the road lighting ability of a standard headlamp by 67%, and increased glare for oncoming and preceeding trafic by 33%"

The kit you are looking at is one of the cheap-*** wannabe HID setups. The lenses look pretty, and I'd put normal halogen bulbs in them. I also wouldn't use the "blue" parking lights. (of course, I'd have the headlights on the 7 down when parking anyway...)

I'm pretty sure the thing with the 3 prongs is a bulb holder for the standard size bulbs. It would actually cost them more to make an h4 style bulb with the 3-prong built in than it would to use a socket and a standard off the shelf bulb, I imagine. The bulbs that come with it are probably blue crap, but you could put in some nice PIAA superwhite bulbs or whatever they call them. And the parking light thingie is
Besides, I alwys park with the headlights on if light is needed, you can see way better than with crap parking lights

Yes. Any gaudy, needless visual enhancement is rice. If it serves a purpose for saftey, speed, or general performance, do it. If not, save your $$ and buy some real mods. No offense though, I just don't like those things. Save your $, and get a true HID kit. Now those are slick headlights.

I have this setup on my s-10. It looks NICE during the day, and at night too. Visibility is DECREASED with the blue bulbs. Visibility is about the same with regular white h4 bulbs on low beam, and increased on high beam. For a rex it is NOT worth the money, because your lights stay down anyway. I got mine for my truck for loks only. WIth the blue bulbs visibility is about half what it was. The road looks grey with them. During the day, the entire headlight looks blue though, like an eyeball or something, freakin cool.
IMO, theyre nice for cars with non-popup lights because of the clear diamond daytime look, but visibility will likely drop at night. With the rex, you get neither the daytime aesthetics OR improved visibility at night, so why would you do it?

Bought mine on ebay, and so far not impressed by them. I wound up replacing mine with some wagner bulbs. Do not buy these kits. Unless you like constant high beams in your face. I would reccomend Hella H4 or a compliant brand.

I want the kits, but I plan on swapping out the bulbs for some better H4 bulbs.
If you get flashed at all the time, could the lights be improperly aimed?

That's the same one that I found. It doesn't seem to be too bad. I'd still need this composite case that I just bought, though. That's a definite possibility after the tax return check is deposited and I pay for my ported motor.
How much are HID bulbs?
