Do you think the engine overheated?
Hi everyone
I was test driving an '89 Turbo II on Sunday and drove it for 20mins (no faster than 40-50mph, <4000rpms), then minutes later drove it again for 15mins (including about 5 mins on freeway). As soon as I turned the car off on the driveway, I noticed coolant fluid leaking onto the ground. I popped the hood and sure enough, the coolant in the reservoir was bubbling over. The fan had also stopped running and the water guage was at 110 degrees.
The owner of the car brought the car to a mechanic and it turned out that the thermostat either malfunctioned or actually fell off during the drive. He flushed the radiator and put new coolant in.
The question is, do you think that the engine overheated? I am about to buy the car but I am having some last minute doubts.
