MA Do I worry about my headlight gypsy fix?

So my headlight switch failed on me a while ago, the tail lights dont turn on, but everything else is fine. Long story short, I pulled the cord that normally feeds power to the all the outside running lights , interior/dash, and something else I can't quite figure out, from the wiring harness, and connected a cheezey manual switch to the cord going to all the running lights. Therefor the dash lights don't light up anymore, but I wont get pulled over anymore.
So, the question of the day is, Are there any series circuits in the headlight switch that I dont know about and/or other stuff like that which would cause any problems? I'm getting a weird feeling that the lights are running too bright.

and also, I just wanted to say that I traced how the power moved through the headlight switch as best as i could, so can someone confirm or deny what I found out:

1 cord from the battery supplies power to the interior/dash lights, exterior running lights, (and the headlights? WTF? do you think this is the source of the shortage?)

1 cord supplies power to the headlight motors(up and down)

and one to just the headlights.

thanks.

you could be feeding the high beam instead of the low... though I dont have the factory headlights anymore, I believe they were on the same harness, just different wires.

The headlights receive power from the Head fuse. This fuse powers only the headlights. The Retractor fuse powers the pop up motors. The Illumination fuse powers the other lights you mentioned.

OH man, Satch, This makes total sense now, because in the switch, i was getting voltage to the headlights from both the Head and Illumination fuse. thats probably how the Illumination wire in the harness burned out!

A slight correction. The Head fuse also powers the relay found in the headlight switch that is for the retractor motors.
