Unhappy Do I need new clutch ???

OK, I think its time for a new clutch...
In 1st, 2nd and 3rd gear, if I floor it, the engine revs up without the car accelerating, then after a split second the revs seem to stop, drop for a bit, then the car starts accelerating, but not as it should...
This is typical "clutch slipping problem", but is it ? Could this be something else ? Anyone with any different opinions and/or ideas ?
Any help appreciated...

(PS: car has now 90K km on it, should the clutch be that worn out ? )

...

If you floor it/drop the clutch and it slips through 3 gears, you have a glazed clutch disk, unless you have some serious oil on the clutch disk. Either way you'll need to pull the tranny to fix the problem, and while your at it you might as well get a clutch designed for your hp needs. My roomate had this problem, and it was a glazed clutch disk. Just make sure you break in the new clutch properly or it will not grab as hard in the future...

hmmm

I had a similar problem, my clutch was doing that too

I would be driving in 5th gear @~2900 RPM and then would floor it, the revs would climb like I was in 3rd gear, but with no noticable acceleration up to about ~3500 RPM and then would drop down to ~3150-3200 RPM and then accelerate...I am replacing the clutch and master/slave cylinder ASAP to remedy this problem as well as having my flywheel re-machined.

hey, what exactly is the break in period. I had the exact same problem and the new clutch is being put in tomorrow. I would do it but I don't have the know how, tools, or work area. I was just wondering what the wear in is? thanks.
