Do FCs need camber kits with custom rims?

I was wondering if I would need a camber kit to straighten out the wheels if I bought some custom rims. The reason I ask is because 2 of my friends have integras and had to buy camber kits. Is it because they don't buy the proper size rims in the proper offsets or what? Thanks alot.

No, you have to buy camber kits when you lower your car. Rims DO NOT affect camber.

You run into (excessive negative) camber problems when you start dropping the chassis.&nbsp Hondas create some absurd camber angles when dropped.

On an FC, the fronts don't camber out too much when dropped mildly under 2").&nbsp If you want to throw on camber plates, Ground Control and Cusco offer camber plates.

The REAR of the FC presents headches when lowering!&nbsp A slight (1/2") drop can cause negative camber that easily affects traction.&nbsp Dropping anything past 1/2" can cause negative camber changes up to 2-degrees PLUS!&nbsp The only (easy) way to adjust the excessive camber is to install a rear camber adjustment rod.&nbsp Racing Beat and Ground Control both offer similar units.

I run the Ground Control unit, and it looks like it'll take out 2-3 degrees at the most before the rear subframe starts contacting the floor!&nbsp I'd imagine the Racing Beat would produce similar results, as the limitation is the collapsing of the rear subframe.

with a few degrees of negative camber in the back, i can tuck 265's in the back without rolling the fenders. And they dont rub.

Well I want to get the ground control adjustable springs:

http://www.ground-control.com/gcapguid.htm

and prolly lower the car close to 2" all around (whatever looks the best with 17s on it), so will I need a camber kit?

That's a serious drop.&nbsp You won't need the front camber plates, but you'll definitely need the rear camber adjust bar.&nbsp If you don't, you'll end up with constant uneven tire wear and excessive tire slippage due to decreased traction.

Just to give you an idea, I lowered my car 2" with the GC kit, and put on 225/15/50 Yokohama AVS Intermediates at the same time. Well its been about 8 months, and the AVS have about 3/8th on the outside of the rear wheels, and from about the middle of the tire to the inside edge, there is 0 tread left, completely smooth. The negative rear-camber is easily noticeable just by looking at the car from behind. My front tires have a little over half-life on them left, and its pretty even tirewear across the tread.

Correct.&nbsp The fronts will gain some negative camber, but the car likes it up front.

Racing beat - http://www.racingbeat.com/resultset....rtNumber=14008
The Ground Control one is a bit pricier...

The car likes some negative camber in the rear too if you're doing autocross. Helps a lot in the twisties as long as it's not too much. Kumho's tech tips say the tires perform their best with 2-3 deg.

Ted,

From what you've said, I'm glad I haven't bought the Racing Beat springs set for my FC yet. They say it drops the car about 1". So even for these springs I'd need to get the camber kit, correct?
