DIY ground wire kit
i saw this on a dsm forum and wanted to adapt this to my rx7. just this diagram has mounting points for the head, coil, and exhaust manifold; does anyone know of bolts that are easy to get to to mount them to or replace for the head.

Yeah, that'll be useful. There's nothing more annoying than looking at a car with a extra crispy deep fried harness and 50 new ground wires ran everywhere.

Exactly. Fix the stock grounds and it will cure all problems. Doesn't matter how many grounds you run to various parts of the body and engine...if the ECU ground on the harness is messed up, nothing will work correctly...I'm in the process of doing a detailed "How To Properly Fix Your Ground" writeup because I'm sick of seeing all these "uber ground" threads...

If the wire is in OK condition, and doesn't have cracks in the casing/etc, then just cleaning the contacts can do wonders. If the wiring is roasted, cracked, etc, then it warrants being replaced.

Mine -
I had alot of probs with mine and hesitations intermitantly. All grounds were cleand befor doing anything still persisted. If I replaced them all factory locations that would have solved it. You know this b/c it worked this way when Mazda sold the car.
I wanted a central grounding system and I did not want any loss of conductivity through the chassi or motor. The factory charg harness is a PITA to remove with motor in so I did not feel like redoing it at that time. So I did mine as shown. Solved all issues.

luckily when I redid my engine bay all my wiring was good... except my low coolant I assume or something up in the coolant area, when I was removing some tape from wiring harness the Utility knife got a little crazy and I cut into that wire but saw no real damage (fingers crossed) and so I taped it up and went about on my merry way... I am just hoping that one doesn't come back to bite me in the ***.

can someone draw up a diagram of all ground points and pos points that one should replace. I don't know where they all are. If someone did a diagram then I could take that and apply it to my car.

I'm in the process of doing a detailed grounding writeup right now. It will focus of properly repairing the stock grounds and NOT adding 17 million extra grounds. But it won't be ready for a while as I'm also working on a lot of other areas of my website as well...
Long story short, ground diagrams are in the factory service manual. Clean and repair the main body ground, starter ground and ECU ground. That will cure 99% of problems.

17 million is a lot and quite honestly would be kinda funny to see a car with a bunch of wires screwed everywhere for grounding... would that be a new kinda "ground effects"?

About that ECU ground...I'm a little nervous about wiring (especially around the ECU) so could someone post a pic of the ECU ground please?
