Distinguishing between an S4 or S5 engine block
Distinguishing between an S4 or S5 engine block
hi guys,
this might sound stupid but...i just wanted to know where to look on the engine block for the engine code? will the code distinctly have the "S4" or "S5" designation in it? thanks in advance!!

If all you have is a short block, there is no EGR valve or a hole for it, just blocked off casting and two bolt holes for an EGR valve.

Edit: this is a S5

The other question, of course, is if you're talking NA or turbo. The TII short blocks are a little trickier to tell - easiest way is the bung for the knock sensor is on the rotor housing above the two plug holes, as opposed to the center iron.
