dismantling motor need help

i was riping apart my 88 motor last night and got it striped but the flywheel whont come off. i tryed using a pry bar on one side and hiting it with a hamer, that trick usualy works. i got some wd40 on it and then tryed the pry bar again, then i got two 14mm bolts put them in the old motor mounts (steal round part) and began to tighten(tow bolt puller style) the force and the presure should have disloged the flywheel but it didnt

any ideas on how to get the flywheel off?

Go get yourself some MAPP gas and heat the bitch up, then beat on it... with a 4lb hammer.. its probably got some locktight in there and its stuck to the shaft..

I removed mine by simply using a pry bar. It went out pretty easily.

I don't see the purpose of using loctite on the flywheel itself. I used loctite on the nut and it's the only place i used it

Anyways, if it was me, id get it off the same way i get drum brakes off...beat on it with a hammer all around til its somewhat broken loose...Although i havent taken a flywheel off yet so maybe thats the wrong thing to do

the corect way to take the flywheel off is to get a two bolt puller. but if you put pressure on one side and hit the other side it should pop off

Just hit the outer surface with a nice sized hammer around in 4 seperate places. It will come off. There is a pad like space I use when removing

hitting it with a hammer? mmmmmmmmm

I'd be really careful with this method since the flywheel has to be PERFECTLY flat to function properly.

Beat this up with a '' nice sized '' hammer and you'll maybe end up with a f****d up clutch action!

Easiest way to get the flywheel off is to pry from the back with a decent sized pry bar, and then hit the out edge with a hammer. Put a block of wood between the hammer and the flywheel to prevent damage. That has always popped it off for me after a few blows.

Use two people, and keep the flywheel nut on (but loose) to protect the threads and prevent the flywheel from shooting off and landing on your toes (ask me how I know...).

piece a wood and a hammer, keep hitting the same spot till the sound is different and its off. Try a heavier hammer

unless you use a sledge hammer and hit it right on the clutch friction surface it is pretty tough to damage the flywheel or warp it, i use a hammer and tap on the inner and outer edges around the perimeter of the flywheel until it pops off.

ive allways used a home made puller (aka steel bar with 2 holes drilled into it. Im afraid of damaging the bearing if you just hit it off..

go to autozone and rent a puller... it doesn't cost you anything in the end and you're guaranteed not to damage anything. they have one's made of material that won't flex much, unlike the engine mount part you used.
