disabling alarm?
disabling alarm?
I had an interesting experience this weekend w/ an alarm i didn't even know these cars had. My driver's door lock has been broken since i bought the car and sunday morning i went to unlock the passenger side and reach across when i noticed something was inside the lock... it's what's left of the plastic "door" to the lock so i unlock the hatch and climb in to unlock it from the inside... as soon as i do the lights start flashing and the horn is honking and this is at 8 in the morning in a college town where everyone is asleep. In my rush to get out the back i manage to kick the antenna off... I assume it's like other cars and sticking the key in the ignition will turn off the alarm but no... the alarm seems to have disabled the ignition all together. I finally decide i've had enough and take a knife to the horn wires to stop the noise and after unhooking the battery for awhile, the computer reset itself or something and everything works again (except the horns and antenna). Can I disable the alarm and prevent another scene like this one? I'm going to fix the locks but until then I'd like to avoid making an *** of myself again.

I did run a search but all i could really find out is that you need to use the key in the door lock... which was broken at the time mine went off. I am trying to see if there is a way to permanently disable it. Someone in one of the threads mentioned a connector behind the glovebox, but I haven't had a chance to go digging yet and apparently s4's and s5's are different. I do use the search most of the time so I don't make myself too big of a pain in the ***.
