differences in TII vs. N/A LSD housings

Alright, guys, I'm having thoughts (it scares me, I know)

Is the only difference between, say, a clutch-type LSD from an S4 N/A and a clutch-type LSD from an S4 TII the internals? Are the physical housings the same?

Alternately, are the internals the same and the housings are the difference?

I'm wondering if I could just put an N/A LSD into the blown TII diff I have access to, rather than rebuilding the TII diff.

Thanks.

size wise they are all different. The housings are not the same, the diff itself is not the same (Turbo is bigger) Nothing in common except a couple of seals and bearings and overall appearance.

You could use a N/A diff in a T2, but you would need a custom drive shaft or re-drill. Don't forget you would also need N/A half shafts.

I'm actually talking about swapping the internals of the differentials, not the actual units. I know the housings are different and I kind of wonder why I forgot that fact last night. Are the INTERNALs of the differentials the same, or is the TII one beefier anyway?

The internals are differnet as well, the N/A and Miata (NA, NB) ones are 7", while the Turbo and FD ones are 8" rings
