Diff changing problems

popped the diff in my FC the other day, and I have since purchased a new one (complete diff housing with diff).

I ran into the problem that the new diff i purchased is bigger than my old one. All the mountings, etc are the same, however the drive shaft and tail shaft connections are bigger than my old one (also the whole actual housing seems to be fatter).

Does anyone know what this is, and do you know if i can just change the drive shaft splines and the tail shaft flange for my old ones? (ie, will they fit?)

Thanks,

Nic.

Do you have an N/a? If so you may have a TII housing there. I hear they are overall larger units.

Nope it is a turbo, however it may have been an N/A in the past.

Is it possible to change the N/A tail shaft flange and output shafts (splines) into the TII housing?

It sounds like you had a n/a tranny and n/a rear end. And what you have purchased is a T2 rear end.

I paid $100.00 USD to have a n/a drive shaft modified to mate a n/a tranny to a turbo rear end. I would sell it to you but I bet it would cost 2x that just to ship it to you.

What does your transmission look like? Is it a "smooth" case or a "ribbed" case?
