You painted the steering wheel? Everything else looks fine, but the steering wheel looks odd.

I'm glad you didn't choose white, red, blue, or neon-puke colors! The color (gun-metal?) contrasts nicely.

Is this a puke color? At least it matches the body, and it's not yellow.

The Paint looks like it was done well but is too bright for my tastes.

It had a huge crack in the top...I started off by glueing the console back together from the rear, I then used a bit of bondo like putty to fill in the crack and sanded it lightly with 2000 grit t(to maintain the texture) Then i primered the console with flat black and lightly sanded it again. I used a flexing agent to primer the plastic parts a second time and then applied a high end Exterior piant in several coats...thanks for the compliments

Yes, that would be considered a puke color. That blue has no business next to the dull grey/black interior... Totally tacky.

Until the rest of the dash is painted to match, it's just rice. (IE: Poor taste) What's with the red seats??? Throw in some green, yellow, and purple and you'll have a complete RAINBOW! GAY!

I like the color especially because it matches the blue your car is...but i agre it would look better if you painted the whole dash that color it would be sweet! good job..

The red seat covers that came with my red car are gone now, they were neoprene, VERY comfortable, and the seats are being replaced with new blue/black ones as soon as the TII conversion is finished. But yes I drove the car like that for a couple of weeks because my comfort was more important than others opinions. As for the interior, it is ALL black and looks great with the blue, (at least according to the 50 or so people who have seen it so far in person. That picture was taken with a bright flash and the dash had been degreased, so it looks dull. As you can tell the car was in the middle of restoration. That is why the seats were red and the steering column surround was missing. After paint work was done then some silicone protectant was be added as needed. Also since it IS the cars paint color it looks perfect with the car and gives it all a connected flow.
Calling something "gay" because it does not look like the stock worn out 15 yr. old interior was a little over the top.

P.S. I forgot to mention it earlier but the gunmetal looks real cool to me. I also thought of that color when my plans were to paint the car silver originally.

It is a standard double din size hole I custom made it from some plastic sheets that I had laying around then screwed it with screws to the back of the surround as the factory did with their side filler panels.

My whole interior will be black with the exception of the blue parts that you see plus the seats will be two tone (blue/black) and I am going to redo the center leather wrinkled section in the door panels with some matching blue pleather. it will be an even distibution of the color but not enough to make you sick after a couple of months. The look is similar to the BMW Z3's with the black interior with contrasting silver center consoles and door trims. As I said my original color was silver but this corvette blue looks sooo good in person that the pics don't do it justice.

The center steering wheel paint does look...."interesting" but then I take a closer look and I can see that it appears to match the consol and gauge cluster surround too. It's prollly just the way the light was taken in by the camera, but I think it would look very good in person. I'm curious though about the steering surround. Won't the paint wear off on that part, as you touch it every time you drive the car, or am I just too skeptical on interior paint?

and since you put your pic in too, JonEQuest, I agree it looks a little bright, but can see that it prolly is due to the camera lighting again. I won't put white-faced-guages in any of my 7's, but I do love the way they look at night. I have a set in my Exploder because a freind of mine got me a set free to checkout how it looks. Just too bright in the daytime, IMO. But all around, your car looks like it would look very cool and complementing with the exirior, just like you said. Get some current pics up sometime so we can see more than just the one in progress pic.

A darker blue would have been better but the paint has a nice look to it instead of the all too common Krylon spray can **** up.

The paint is much deeper and darker than it appears in photos. I also did not paint the column surround just the wheel. My white gauges actually blend in better since I used an aluminum gauge bezel and a silver shift ****
