detonation? maybe....

ok so my girlfriend has a 87 turbo 2 with a s5 turbo and ported wastgate and a 255lph pump.

heres my problem, i work on FD's so im not as up to par on FC's but when i get into boost theres a random click or clank in the motor, it dosent studder or anything it might be detonation i think, so i checked timming and its dead on, i replaced the plugs, checked the TPS still nothing outof adjusment. so im here scratchin my head, im going to change the fuel filter just for ***** and giggles, she's running 10lbs though it so i just can understand why its doing this any ideas would be great.

thanks
Robert

I figured once you detonated, the apex seals went with it, but then again, I wouldn't know. Never had an engine do that to me. What's the AFRs on the thing?

Check for deposits on your plugs. Pinging on a rotary sounds like gravel getting tossed around in the engine. If you do it too much it will blow (I've tested ).

Are you positive she is only running 10 lbs (no spiking)?

Hopefully your running a standalone or RTEK. 10lbs is to much for the stock injectors. If you have a boost controller try turning it down and see what that does. Hopefully the motor isn't blown.

I'm pretty sure my motor isnt blown, i drive it everyday and it runs like a champ. The clank that hes talking about doesnt happen all of the time and sometimes it's not just one, it'll be two clanks sometimes. And also, sometimes louder then others. I honestly dont think it sounds like detination but, what do i know. The noise always comes from the drivers side if that helps any. To me it sounds more like a misfire, then detonation.
