i have a few dents on my car, one of them pretty sizeable but also pretty fixable on the drivers side door. i just saw an ad on the tv for this dent pulller thing. it looked pretty decent and was only 20$. but before i do that, i was wondering if anyone had any remedies for getting dents out. and also if anyone has had experience with a dent puller from tv or something like that if they could let me know how it worked..any insight would be helpful, thanks

You mean that suction-cup puller thing from the infomercial?

I don't have it but it seems neat.

For the big dents, I'd drill a tiny hole then use a puller to pop it back. Then fill the hole...

what is a puller, i have heard of doing that but i never understood what people used for a puller....

I have the one simular to the suction cup one, where it uses a hot glue to hold the stud to the door, and then you tighten the holder until the stud pops off (pulling the dent out with it).

It is great after some practice. I am able to pull most small dents (under 3" diameter) out pretty good with it.

But if you use too much glue you can pull too much metal, and then have to press the dent back in. It also is very difficult on the aluminum hoods and flat part of the door panels, due to how soft the metal is. Again the key is very little glue (just enough for the dent).

This is the one simular to what I have (only I only paid $18 inc shipping for it on ebay)

well the dent on my door is like 10 inches by about 8 inches or so..its not very noticable because its so shallow...its one of those big dents that didn't go in very far, and from looking at the dent puller thing on tv i don't even think its big enough...so would you recommend the drilling method and if so how would i go about doing that...

If the metal is not too streched, I would pull the interior door panel and see if I could just pop it out from inside the door (since I don't like having to paint and fill holes).

I guess you could also try one of the suction cup or hot glue ones, but you would probably have to make a custom bridge for it to mount on the out side of the damaged areas.

wow thats a really good idea, i never thought of pulling the door panel and doing from the inside, i think thats going to be my first try. i have to fix the lock anyway

Well, you have to start somewhere. I would suggest finding someone whoo knows what they are doing and have them show you how to do it.

i have a friend who has a set of these awsome suction cups made for carrying large panes of glass. the cup is like 8 inchs wide and will stick to just about anything you could imagine. i managed to pull out a smash, that was like 20 inches wide and 4 inches deep out of the rear quarter panel of my old t-bird, and that thing had panels like a tank. i would try to find one of those, cuz theyre like autobody miracle workers.

i have tried a pluger for this one, its shallow but its been there for a while, this dent needs more pressure than that...

Years ago a deer run into the drivers side of my daughter's car and caved in the drivers side door pretty serverely. I pulled the inner door panel off, layed a piece of wood the length of the door (inside) and wacked it. The panel popped back almost perfectly, with only a very small crease which was caused by a brace in the door. It's worth trying.
I've also had small dings/dents taken out by a paintless dent removal co. Wonderful, you'd never know the panel was ever worked on.
