decisions, decisions.....

well let me start by saying i have a 88gxl and i want to make it turbo. but i cant decide if i should use the engine i have and put turbo parts on it, buy full new engine but keep my n/a tranny, or buy a engine and transmission together(with everything else). i will most likely do the work myself with the help of some friends and family. which do you think is the best way to go about this, which way will i get the best bang for my buck.

thanks for any help

I'm doing the exact same project to my 86 GXL. I purchased a turbo block that I will be installing with the NA clutch, flywheel, transmission and rear end. You have a limited slip already and there's no reason to upgrade it unless you plan on putting down BIG numbers.

I figure I'll rock the N/A drivetrain till I pop it and then maybe swap in the turbo stuff...or maybe just a turbo trans with custom driveshaft.
