dead battery

i own a 89 rx7 gtu and until now ive never had a problem with the battery. a few days ago someone backed into my front driverside and smashed up the bumper a little and cracked the lense for the turn signal, nothing major. but now my battery dies every day, i have to charge it to start but once its sitting for a few hours its completly dead and i cant figure out why. has anyone had a similar problem, is it just time to get a new battery maybe ?

something is probably shorting out your battery.

to check, charge up the battery and stick a meter on it. If the amps drop, then you have a draw somewhere.

gonna guess that your signal light most likely isn't working either, due to the "crack up"..the Bulb may be broke and shorted..so get down there and Replace it.

probably a stuck headlight motor that was damaged. If the headlight motors can not fully retract or fully extend, the motor will continue to draw power trying to open or close.

And for Jaiyurai:

There is no such thing as a electrical Short that does not blow a fuse or melt wires or disconnect entirely on a vehicle, so people should probably stop giving such advice as looking for a "short" for current draw problems.

I'm sorry Icemark. I didn't put it in the right words.

He wasn't sure if his battery was bad or not. So, I was suggesting he use a meter to find out whether its a dead battery or if something was drawing power from the battery. Thus, he found it was the headlight motor.
