GA Dash light flicker clarification

So I've been reading through old posts all morning so forgive me if I've missed this answer.

Every example I've read is rear tail lights off with this issue you probably need have a burn out light switch or need to resoder.

My dash lights turn off sometimes but not the stero. My rear tail lights have no issues and work fine. Sometimes there on sometimes there off. Sometimes I'll hit a bump and they'll go back on.

Is my issue the light switch also? Do I just need to resoder the cold sodered points?

My 86 always will light half the cluster.
Whack the dash and it lights up completely.Does this every time.
I sum it up to a bad connection.
Maybe this is your problem too?

I have whacked the dash and it has come back on but mostly doesn't work. But its not partial its the whole dash.

Every case I read is light switch because there rear lights are out also. Mine are not, I just want to know if this is a lighht swith issue or if I should look some where else?

This would happen to my 87 Turbo II, I would loose the dash lights and clearance lights. Yes hitting the dash worked for about a month. Once I started smelling burning wires I pulled the dash apart to find the harness to the light switch all melted together. Replaced the switch and harness from a scrapped car I pulled apart. That was 2 years ago and no problems since.

My 88 TII would have random dimming occur on just the cluster. I swapped the cluster surround which came with a new (used obviously) dimmer switch and I haven't had a problem since.

Most likely it's the dimmer switch.

With the dimmer switch being the issue is that something that can be re-soldered?
