Dash heater vent controls don't work

87 TII. I have heat, blower motor is fine, but the buttons for floor/dash/defrost etc. don't do anything. The light comes on for whichever one is pushed. The fresh/recirc button works and I can hear the motor operating when I push it. Same with the AC. No motors operate when the position buttons are pushed. Where do I start? Is this a motor issue or a switch issue or what? If anyone has experienced this problem before, PLEASE HELP ME! Thanks in advance!
Nick

A common problem on these cars is a bad contact in the ignition switch, which controls power to the Logicon (AC, heat, and vent controls). My car had the problem. Try this - With the engine running, wiggle the key back and forth, but not enough to shut off the engine. If you hear a faint click from behind the dash, the controls should work. The bad contact also controls power to the sunroof, so if your sunroof also doesn't work when you push the button, that's a pretty good indication that the ignition switch is the source of the trouble. My car still has the problem after 6 years (!!) but I've just learned to live with it.

My 30amp circuit breaker came loose. I simply pushed it back in and everything worked fine. That breaker is located in the fuse panel at the driver's feet.

I'll give the breaker a try. The sunroof works perfect, so the IS is probably OK. Thanks!
