Damaged turbo from loosening carbon
Damaged turbo from loosening carbon
OK I just pulled my manifold and turbo because I had an exhaust leak.. well its just a bad gasket.
My turbo is beat to hell. The exhaust side has major damage. Looks like loads of carbon buildup dumped directly onto the turbine. Amazingly it still boosts to stock levels and no modifications.
I am going to put it all back in because I dont have another turbo, and if I did have another turbo, I would not want an apex seal busting through.
PS. Be carefull with the ATF treatment.

I was thinking that, but my motor runs fine.
Now that i think a bit, when I bought the car there was a birds nest under the air box. Nuts were everywhere. Aconrs. There was also a few holes in the air filter, I made sure that everything was cleaned out but possibly some stuff got by.
Man this sux... but on a lighter note, I dought I will hit more than like 10psi, which could be good for longevity.
