custom FMIC sux, TMIC install?

hey whats up. When I bought my 7 the dude I bought it from had relocated the stock intercooler to the front using exhaust bends and radiator hoses. Its turning out to be detrimental so I want to go back to the stock TMIC setup, so my question is, how do I install it? He took off the intercooler cover thing that says "TII" on it, is that gonna be a problem? I would just buy a FMIC but I'm a poor college student.

If anyone has a TII hood they wanna sell me I'd take it.

radiator hoses and exhaust bends.. sounds like "wrong" to me.

Just get some custom piping, I can hook you up with a guy who can do piping for a few hundred bucks if you measure it.

Well the current setup has a lot of lag in it, plus it actualy gets less air flow where it is now then if it were a top mount. Plus like Barwick said the piping is not acceptable.

You can get the stock intercooler on Ebay with the shroud on it for dirt..

OR... you could throw a few bucks my way and I'll send ya everything you need, I'm about to upgrade the turbo and do a greddy FMIC.. not gonna use the stock stuff. You need the IC, all the hoses, Vac lines.. all that crap right?

The lag is most likely due to too much restriction in the pipes. Decent piping would fix that.

That's unlikely. You only have to compare the size of the hood scoop to the size of the opening in the nose to see that. Plus without the trim on top of the IC to seal it it the hood some of the air entering the scoop will go around the core instead of through it.

Is it blocked by someting? You could always relocate it a bit if you redo the piping.

You already have a front-mount, and you're complaining you're broke.
And your problem is???
At the very least you'll need a Turbo II hood, which in most cases is going to cost you over a $100 - lucky if you can get it local.
That cheap-*** front-mount work is probably saving your *** from blowing up your engine, as you got cooler air and lower boost.

Go back to studying, get your degree, and then worry about modifying your car...

Not to mention it'd be cheaper to fix the front mount piping up than buy a new bonnet

..also infinatly better at cooling the air...

hey reted, how about you shut your ****** mouth man, the hells your problem? I'll modify my **** if I want to. God, I'm sick of getting attitude from these losers sittin at their computers gettin off from their little avatars all day makin themselves feel better from bustin on people asking questions. If you have something actualy helpful to say, then post it. Keep your **** to yourself.

Anyway, in response to the people who are actualy HELPFUL...
NZ-you're right it would have more airflow if it were positioned better, but about a quarter of the top is hidden behind the bumper.
YearsOfDecay-yeah I'm bidding on one now..but it would be cool to get all the piping and vaccum hoses, etc.. I'll PM you.
WhiteFC-yea, I'm pretty much just askin around seein if I can scrounge up the parts I need, ya know adding it up and seein what it comes to. I can always cancel my bid on ebay, I think they still let ya do that.

Oh yeah and Ted, I'm majoring in Motorsports technology...its my second semester, so yeah I'm still catchin up on some ****, but **** you anyway, at least I'm out there learnin...i'm actualy learnin alot off this forum, I just gotta ignore the punks mouthin off on their opinions instead of actualy helping. ***.

Damn Fastest Fire Fly,

That was harsh....

Ted didn't bust your *****... He was trying to be a little humerous while making a suggestion, opinion.

Your new here and I am surew that if you respond so strongly and rudely to many others it will be noticed and the guys that do know there **** and hang out here won't bother to answer your questions.

Flaming is quite common on this board... You haven't been flamed yet... Get some thicker skin Dude.... If Ted's comments crossed your wires enough for you to get indignant then I would suggest not coming back.

I am with TED or NZ Turbo on this one... I have the top mount, But the many benefits of the front mount make it more desirable, hell just for minor tuning and engine maintenance you have to pull the Damn TMIC off for almost everything in the UIM area... 4 Bolts and 2 Pipe clamps...

Like you yourself said, your a poor college student. It would be cheaper to improve the front mount you have then to purchase a TMIC and hood. Plus if your current hood is good then you don't have to worry about paint matching with a TII hood....

Lighten up and enjoy the forums

digitalsolo-**** you.

Settle down, I know it gets ******* annoying when people say things to me that I think is semi-flaming. But just take the knowledge from the people that arent ******* annoying and thank them for it. And ignore the people that you feel are retarded.

With that sort of attitude, I doubt you'll be missed. Insulting everyone isn't going to encourage people to help you. Try a little more maturity and a little less swearing.

So how long is it gonna take for him to get kicked?

Ted isn't a loser, really. He's just a very knowledgable and helpful person, and he uses the Club as a way to help others learn what he has.
http://www.fc3spro.com is his site, I believe.

and "fastest fire fly", kid, son, boy, whatever, you need to learn some respect. A lot of the people you just said "**** you" to are a helluva lot more intelligent than you in alot of fields. And they are not losers, they have all been here for a very long time. If you've got something to prove, go buy a ******* Honda Civic. They'll all be just like you. Ignorant little punks that think they know everything about car modifying.

Oh yeh, when you change your IC, don't forget to get new muffler bearings.

Seriously man. Chill out. Insulting people is the way to get kicked off... and insulting people who know what they're talking about? Well, that's not too bright either 'cause next time you aren't going to get any help with an attitude like that.

You probably should leave the FMIC where it is. One severe flaw with the top mount is it's location, on top, right where all the heat from the engine goes. I f you do want to put it back on top, get the shroud and a hood.

-Chris
