Ive searched high and low and I cant find the answer Im looking for... So that brings me to this post.
I have some piping and a cone filter from my previous car (mx-3) and I want to take off the stock air box off the rx-7 ('89 GXL) and put a cone filter after the stock intake/egg thingy that the MAF connects to. But I ran into a problem. Theres about a 1" hose that connects from the stock air box and connects to/near the engine block. Can I plug that or does that need air going into it? If it does need air then do I need to drill a hole in the intake tubing and fit that 1" hose into it? Also the egg (and by egg I mean part of intake that opens up when throttle is open and also the part that the MAF connects to) is only about 1.5" in diameter so I dunno how to connect my cone filter since its a 3" connector. I really hope this all made sense, and thanks in advance for the help!

oh sorry, forgot to answer the second part...get a 3" to 2" rubber coupling from home depot, you may need to cut a little bit off of each end for fitment issues but it's really easy to install
