current at the key? (electrical question)

hi,

I'm building my own turbo timer, and I need to know what relay i need to use. the problem is that my timer circuit will only produce ~100mA, which isnt enough to switch a standard automotive relay. Can I use a 1A mini-relay, or is there more current than that present at the key switch?

I will be either doing a writeup or selling these very cheap after i finish the project, depending on how much of a PITA it is.

thanks
Pat

Most standard 12 volt DPST relays only need 50mA... 100mA should be overkill.

And the key switch wires run upwards of 40 amps peak through them.
