Exclamation Cruise Control Vacuum?

Heya, S5 NA here

ok, car came with Cruise Control, I rebuild the engine, car is working. but I left the Cruise control disconnected (both the cable and the thing that looks like a vacuum tube)

Today, I decided it's a good day to "fix that up" (and a couple other things)

So I got cable connect back to the throttle body.

Now I wonder if this long vacuum tube thing goes to the T-Shape vacuum at the back of the UIM/Throttle body or what ? I capped it long time ago I don't remember what was the reason, is it supposed to connect to that T-fitting ? cuz I really don't see anything extra that goes into that tube.

Oh yes I did search nothing came up (I'm the search monster!)

someone said S4 is based on Vacuum but S5 is electrical ? but what does that long tube thing hanging there then?

I looked thru the f-king FSM no word about where that "tube thing" goes.

*confused*

Anybody know ?

It looks like the S5 NA is similar to the S4 with some differences. On S4 NA models, cruise control is vacuum actuated. On all TII models, the cruise is electronically actuated by a motor. If that port has manifold vacuum and the hose fits over it, then use it.

Here's the FSM chapter you need to look at for troubleshooting if the cruise continues to give you problems:

I have a pretty good knowledge of cruise control on S4's, but never having worked on any S5's, I couldn't give you a straight answer. I'm running a Non-turbo cruise system on my turbocharged convertible. It works, but I need a vacuum reservoir for climbing hills and bridges. It doesn't like to work too well when the vacuum turns into a pressure
