Cruise Control
did the actual "CRUISE" light or whatever it's called come on (not "MAIN")? if the light didn't even come on, I would check/replace the switch, they don't fail that often so you can go used on that. If the light came on and it won't hold speed, check the actuator (vacuum line ok?) and the tension in the cruise control cable. Do you have the clip on the cable? it should have 1-2mm of freeplay per the FSM spec
There is a rubber stop on the clutch pedal arm that pushes against the switch. That is the switch when you start your car you have to have the clutch pedal depressed and disengages the cc when you step on the clutch pedal. When the stop breaks the switch is open and does not let the cc engage. Stop is about $4 from the dealer. First and easiest item to check when the cc quits working suddenly.
^ The light is on the switch itself. MAIN lights up when the system is on, and CRUISE lights up when cruise is actually running. I know for my height, the steering wheel blocks it from my sight during normal driving.
The reason the cruise isn't engaging could be a number of issues. I would first check out the Factory Service Manual in the BODY ELECTRICAL section starting on page T-69. There is a diagnostic test that will tell you if a switch (like the brake or clutch switch or the like) is malfunctioning - assuming your cruise computer isn't dead (like what happened to me once.)
