Silkworm is right, for street use just go with the OEM stuff. I did a complete brake job on my vert. I have pics, I used all new slintered pads, new stock rotors, new calipers, s.s. brakelines, and Motul. It stops on a dime when at temperature.

Cheers,

Bling bling? Go with the slotted/crossdrilled, I think it looks great. It's not going to be a problem for a street car.

Cheap? Autozone/Boyz/Kragen stuff is fine.

Gotta stay Mazda? works' fine too.

Racing? See Cheap

Ted,

how low of a temperature is required for cryotreated rotors? under 0°C?

if it is... ican just stick it into my freezer and then put it into my fridge to control tempeature rise.

Or is this in terms of kelvin. like around 100K? i can get access to liquid nitrogen very easily through my phyiscs labratories. ****... we even have liquid helium, not sure if they would give some of that away though.

From what I understand, it's a very slow controlled process, bring the temperatures down, then back up.. I don't think it's something you can do easily.

Yep, it goes to close to absolute zero and slowly returned back to room temps.&nbsp I don't think your fridge can do that - if it can, damn, that's impressive!

It sounds like he races the car, so the pads he uses aren't what you want unless you also plan on road racing the car.

For track, I suggest Hawk Blues myself.

For street, I actually use OEM pads. Hawk HP+ are nice too, but OEM is fine with me on the street.

Damn, I used to work at an Autozone, and I know that their rotors are actually a good brand-name, just sold in Autozone's box.

BUT I can't remember whose brakes they were, it was a long time ago!!! Sorry for the unhelpful failure of my memory....

They actually use a few manufacturers. I forgot the name, but one was a US company and has been the best of the bunch, but even the Taiwan ones work good.

Preset,

I use Carbotech Panther Plus pads, but you don't want to use these, my car is a race car, and never sees the street.

As for a good street pad, sorry, I have no idea what works good for the RX-7 with low dust..

I only read part of the first page. I have the slotted/drilled rotors for the front. I like them but I have upgraded pads too. I know with the combo of pads and rotors I stop MUCH sooner.

Check other autozones. autozone.com lists them for 43.99 each for the fronts and 57.99 or something each for the rears. Autozone.com prices are the same as the stores price, but for some reason autozone's vary in price. IE ITR front rotor, 24.99/each at one autozone, 45/each at another.
