Lightbulb Crazy Cruise Control

I just got my '88 vert, and the cruise control throttle cable was disconected. I reconnected it and tried it, and the thing just keeps accelerating. When you turn on the cruise, it will accelerate slowly as if you had hit the resume, but it never stops. Hit the brakes or turn the switch off, and it slows down, but the second you let off the brakes it starts to accelerate again. Anyone have any ideas what it might be??????????

See the attached jpg. See the red dots???? Disconnect the plug from the cruise unit. Get your meters neg lead on a good ground. Then put your meter on the LR or blue/red wire. There should be NO continuity. If there is, then the switch is disfunctional. As you can see, when you hit RESUME, you put a ground on the LR wire. That seems to be the symptoms you have.
