Crappy white paint

Just how crappy a job did Mazda do? I can tell you. I finally started preparing my car for paint/fixing body damage with my friend today. The sander took the paint off no problem, butwe noticed something funky with the primer. Normally primer would be kinda rough and dull when you apply paint over it, hence the reason it would stick. No no, Mazda decided to do something different. We were able to use ~120PSI air pressure via a nozzle to remove paint off my car. I removed all the white paint from my headlight covers using just the air nozzle! It was flying off in white chunky flakes. Way to go Mazda. The primer underneath was shinnier than most of my paint above it. No wonder it didn't stick. What the hell were they thinking in '91? I figured it was the white paint that was defectice, as I've heard about other FC's with shitty white paint. I guess it was the primer and the white paint combination that didn't work. How crappy!

I just redid my 90 with the white paint this spring and I know what you're going through. At one point the car started to look like this
When I took it to get painted, they said most of it came off by just peeling it with their hands. The only advantage to this problem is how you'll feel about the best damned color for FC when you get it repainted. Be sure to take before and after shots so I can see.

I went from this
to this

I also lost my wing in an accident 1.5 years ago, so my friend welded the holes closed and I am just keeping it flat. My hood is actually not flaking paint, but it is very faded and dull. Mainly the rear end and my roof are losing paint. I finally stopped putting it off. Little by little she'll be nice and pretty.
